Summer Thoughts
I sit outside in calm warm air
Gazing out my mind starts to wander
The lovebirds chirp and the dogs run
Chasing after narrow, hollow goals
I sit there and think
My bones start to chill. I shiver
I thought of you again
How you weren’t there
No sweet smile for warmth
I feel lost now
Lost in a labyrinth of pain and despair
Lost because you aren’t there
Oh how I long
Long for a better day
Your voice has faded
My thought has not
I sit there as the birds and dogs play and joke
I can not laugh
Not without you here
You light the way
You brighten my day
And I am lost without you
